This week I thought I would just put up some funny things we have seen in China followed by a little of what we did.
Here's a cute lil guy in a shopping mall giving me the look that his shirt is expressing.
I had to edit the shirt....this is a family blog. But yes it did say the bad word. |
This was in a bathroom and Everest got a kick out of it.
Nice shooting lil man! |
Yes he was in public wearing this and working it! |
There are haircutting places everywhere, beauty salons even, sometimes the names are baffling.
Not just a hair cut but much, much more! |
Who says the Chinese are not prepared? Not sure what a Dood is but they have it!
Dood is something that can be loaded into and off of a truck |
Most the time when going to a new place to eat it's like playing Russian Roulette. Sometimes you find a place that has English translation of what you're about to order...kind of...This is a good place to eat and had good food even though you still aren't sure what you are actually eating.
Mannequins and store windows can get pretty funny, this is a little taste of what you can see.
In China they have beautiful walls and streets and sidewalks that you can tell a lot of detail and intricacy went into it. When it breaks or something not so much work or detail goes into fixing it.
On Saturday we went to LingLing, like a suburb of YongZhou and met up with some other foreign teachers to say goodbye to a fellow teaching leaving for a new adventure. We walked the ancient streets again, over 2000 years old and saw some girls wearing traditional dresses. They looked beautiful.
In the picture below we went to another High School campus and it was really nice. Elijah and Ethan bought Free Line skates and have been practicing and that is what they are holding. Everest bought a Steel and Flint set and loves making sparks and trying to start fires, with adult supervision of course.
In LingLing they are building an Island park in the river and I think that after the heavy downpours of rain and the rise of the river they may be rethinking the idea.....maybe, maybe not. But the next couple of pictures will show you...
We did get to go to the eye Dr. this last week and the boys got new glasses. Pretty cheap too! Everest has good eyes, mine and Ethan's prescription didn't change and Elijah's got worse. Four eye exams, 2 pairs of glasses with lenses = 570rmb or $91 USD. Oh yeah.....the wait time.....30 MINUTES!
I would like 5137 and 5027 please....
The boys saw this at a pharmacy and we are still not sure what this product is OR what kind of deer that is, but it's got to be endangered!
|
Not sure what this is, but nice antlers! |
Pants? We don't sell pants here! |
Next....the China split pants! This is what most if not all the little kids wear while they are getting potty trained. As you can see the pants are split and I hope I don't have to explain why. It was brought to our attention that "All great things are invented in America! Like the split pants!" Ummmm....not sure that was invented in America. If it was I know why they are not used AT ALL.
The split pants, finally I got a good picture of some. They wear these in winter as well....brrrrrr |
A stone wall that was "repaired" |
Some traditional dresses and a special occasion |
A local artist at work using ink and water to paint mountain scenes. |
A 700 year old temple getting remodeled in LingLing |
In front of the Temple is a carving of a dragon |
This is a lily pad lake that is in the middle of a High School campus in LingLing, High School number 1 |
Ev with his new survival equipment. |
In LingLing they are building an Island park in the river and I think that after the heavy downpours of rain and the rise of the river they may be rethinking the idea.....maybe, maybe not. But the next couple of pictures will show you...
The river running high, fast and strong |
The earth mover isn't quite safe...they may need to move it more up more |
Great idea and it will be beautiful when finished....but with a high river they may need to raise the island somehow |
All smiles with new glasses! |
