Crazy and Wild way of China

We have been here for just over a Month now. We are enjoying China and there are some things that we have had to adjust to. One thing is the number of people. Fremont population=700-800 people, Huai'an population=5,000,000 people. And all the people here seem to have e-bikes, they use them for all their families. Instead of an SUV or Mini-Van to tote their family around, they have an e-bike! C-R-A-Z-Y!
This is a common sight...whole families on an E-bike

A Balloon ride

Moving? Got Bike!

The China Truck load
If they have a big load of something like timber or trash or boxes of miscellaneous things they use what looks like a motorcycle with a bed of a truck put on it. They can pile things ridiculously high.

Another fun thing to see are the signs and how they are translated.

Language...that is a huge obstacle right now. We are still working on that and thank goodness for the apps on our phones. The boys are learning it a lot faster than Jami and I since they are going to lessons while we are teaching, that is a HUGE help.
Food...You have seen all the pictures and here are a couple of others. But the food adjustment has been good and easy. Our family loves trying new things and in The States we loved Chinese food. The food here is not like the Chinese food at home...it's better!
Found a BBQ place that specializes in Clams. Had to give it a try. It was super good! They have the clams in a tank you tell them what you want and they pull them out and cook them for you!

This is China BBQ. This plate had Octopus, Hotdogs and Chicken wings
This is a little hole in the wall "restaurant" that we had Wong Tong dumplings. it was YUMMY!
Church...We Skype (voice only) into Church on Sundays, we are members of the LDS CCID Branch (Central China International District) and we do not get any face to face time. That has been a huge adjustment. Our whole schedule in the states was based off of what we were doing in Church. That is not the case here in China.

This week we went to another Buddhist Temple that is close to us. It looked small on the outside but on the inside it was pretty big. Out of respect and also to avoid "bad luck" we don't take any pictures of the statues and places of worship inside.
Outside the Buddhist Temple close by our place

Elijah thought this Bonsai tree was pretty cool

This up coming week is National Holiday. Now this has been something else to prepare for...ALL of China gets 7 days in a row off...sort of. From October 1st to October 7th. To make this happen they move days around. So for example we do not get a weekend this week or the week after the 7 days off. We will teach our Wednesday class on Sunday night, Monday night we will teach our Thursday Night class and Tuesday we teach our regular Tuesday class. Then when we return we will have to teach the Sunday we get back. So really when it all is added up we get 3 days off. On Sunday all the kids go to school to make up for days off. ANYWAY....we will be taking our chances and traveling to a city called Qingdao (pronounced Ching-Dow). We will have new pictures and updates of our National Holiday vacation! Until next time...
