Yangshuo part deux

Another week has flown by! It was a great week. Our work week was cut short due to a holiday...May Day! The kids got Friday and Saturday off which equates to a 3 day weekend for us (almost 4).

1st off this week we were invited to and ate at a students house, Echo. She and her friend were the girls that took the boys to the movies. It was delicious and we were able to have some of the dishes common to this area of China. Also, another good friend the boys have made, Karla, came with us.

Echo tailored this picture herself...the goof! She had already deleted the original. She is a cute girl as seen on the last post.

The spread

Blood Duck. It was tasty and spicy

Dong An Chicken

There were several sudden down pours of rain this week and while we were walking with some students on Thursday after such a downpour and with it sprinkling, the kids had no more school for the day and were heading home, Jami took off her shoes to walk barefoot in the rain and Sherry (one of the students) was surprised and wanted to do the same, we got to the field and the pictures says it all! They said their teachers might get mad but Jami said she was their teacher and said it was fine. They got so excited!!! They had a blast getting wet and playing in the rain. It's very uncommon for the kids to be allowed to play as they did in the rain. A moment I am sure they will not forget. This was their first time playing in the rain!!!

With the 3 day, almost 4 day weekend, we decided to go back to Yangshuo. That is where we spent our 1st week of China at. While going there we spent the evening in Guilin with the Wynn's. A wonderful family that just moved to China from America and are members of our Church. It was fun to meet them and get to know them better.

Having fun and walking along/in the Lijiang River with the Wynn kids.
The next morning we were off to Yongshuo, a very popular tourist destination here in China. It's amazing. The mountains are so unique and splendid. We stayed on the outskirts of town this time. We did something different! We went on a bike ride with 2 tandem bikes and 1 regular bike. We had a blast! We went for a total of about 20 km (12 miles or so).

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! A selfie while on a Tandem = Very dangerous

The next day we wandered around our area a little more and we went back to the mud caves that we hit in August of 2014 and we still had a good time.

We stayed by Moon Hill

After hitting West street we took about a 20 min ride back to the hotel on bikes! The boys were in Heaven!

We bought some Li Chi...looks poky but it's soft and delicious. You peel it and suck the meat off the seed.

Did someone say WcDonalds!? We found it! "Lovin' it!"

China is a beautiful place and we love the scenery and views in Yangshuo. It only took us a 90 minute train ride and then a 90 min bus ride to get there. It will be our last time there for a while. There is SOOOO much more of China to see. What an adventure!!
