Summer time Fun

I can't believe that I haven't updated the blog since April....okay who am I kidding? I can believe it. This year is going by fast, like time always does. A lot has happened since April. So I will just hit a couple points and put up some pictures on some things we have done, the highlights anyway.

1st off we had some visitors at the end of May.....The Jensen Family came to see us and we had a blast with them and it was fun to see and do things with them. Aubrey and Jason are great parents and their kids are awesome!! We sure wish everything could have lasted longer. Owen, Rhylee, Spencer, Jocey and Ady and our boys got to go to an Amish farm ride a horse aka Pony and ride the horse and buggy and try our hand at driving a team of big beautiful work horses.

Here's Rhylee workin' the big work horses!

Here is Aubs with Jocey and Jami in the Amish kid horse and cart. All the kids got the chance to ride and drive it.

Jason and I also took the kids (Owen, Rhylee, Elijah, Everest and Ethan (not shown))to White Oak Lake to do a little fishing and play with snakes and toads and each other.

We also got over to historic Nauvoo and stopped on by the great 'ol Mississppi river! Jocey's smile says it all! Yeeee Haaa!!! Good times had by all!

After the Jensen Family visit we did have to cut our fun short and head to Idaho for my Grandmas funeral. It was a fast 17 hour drive straight through, as fast as 17 hours can go, but it was nice to see everyone there and good to be there. Also it was fun to spend a couple days with my parents, but just wish the circumstances were a little more for pleasure. I will miss my Grandma McQuivey a lot, she was a great woman who raised a great family and is a good example to us all, we miss and love you grandma!

Next we had some friends sell us some tickets for a mini car race at the Iowa Speedway, where they do Indy car races and Nascar races as well. When we got there the Indy cars were flying around the track practicing or qualifying or something, I had forgotten ear plugs so I HAD to go buy some, it was so loud and it was really exciting, it's hard to explain, but your adrenalin really gets pumping. I would love to go again and see a NASCAR or an Indy Race. And by the way I am no die hard race fan, I can see why they get pumped up.

Last but certainly not least was the 4th of July Holiday. We love the fireworks, the BBQ's and hanging with great people and friends and of course the recognition and celebration of our Freedoms and Liberties that we enjoy in this great Country we call home and thanks to all the men and women that continue to serve and fight for our rights, Our hearts and prayers go out to all those serving this great nation, we decided to add a little extra activity this year, thanks to our friends the Atwoods who introduced this to us, Greased Pig Contest. I didn't get any photos BUT I did get videos of each of the boys. Here they are!

Here is Everest, they split everything into age groups and the pigs would get bigger and bigger as the age groups got older. They had to grap the pig and drag it into the water trough. Everest was close but was beat out.

Here is Elijah. The kid that beat him to the pig actually took the overall prize for the fastest time, took him only 12 seconds.

Drum roll please........AND Here's Ethan the Pig Wrangler. Ethan got 1st place in his age group with a time of 17 seconds. He's a go getter and seems to excel or win at anything he does. Way to go E-Dawg!!

And here's the trophy that he got, carved in the shape of a pig.

And as Porky would say "Th-Th-Th-Th That's all folks!"
